About ThoughtWorks | Management Team

What We are Building

Developing enterprise software can be difficult and many people, including consultants at ThoughtWorks, put a lot of time and effort into making it easier. We understand the importance of their efforts and aim at providing them with tools that they need to be even more productive and continue to push forward the art of software development.

We’re building a new generation of tools that embrace the recent advancements in our industry, and bring us up to date with the best ways to develop software.

Listen to our Managing Director, Cyndi Mitchell, talk about our suite of products:

Our Philosophy
Make tools that make artisans productive. And make them easy and fun to use.

Good tools are practitioner-centric and solve problems, not create them. They should allow project metrics to be measured, tracked and reported in real time without imposing an undue burden on either the people or the process, thus encouraging timely delivery of quality software.

Optimize the tools for collaboration. And reward the curiosity of the poly-skilled worker.

Modern software development requires effective collaboration, now more than ever before. Traditional software development activities – analysis, testing, development, and project management – overlap so snugly that one cannot be done without immediately affecting the others. Add to that the global distribution of a typical enterprise software team and you get some herculean challenges.

Release early and often. Keep the tools as lean as possible. And listen to users.

As the art of software development continues to advance, new people and practices continue to push the boundaries of what we know today. Good tools allow artisans to do things they weren’t able to do before, thus generating new ideas for new features, plug-ins and new tools. The new generation of tools must create a balance between too many features and too few of them. And make it easy for artisans to add their own feeds and features.
