Community Licenses

Open Source, Academic and Charitable, Socially Redeeming Not-for-Profit NGOs

We offer special pricing for use of Mingle to Open Source communities, Academic users and Charitable Not-for-Profit NGOs:
  • Open Source projects: You qualify for a free license if your open source project is truly open development (i.e. development is open to any worthy contributor, regardless of where they are employed) and the source code is widely available.
  • Academic users: You qualify for a free license if you plan to use Mingle for academic purposes, meaning in the classroom/lab or as part of a curriculum.
  • Charitable Not-for-Profit NGO users (other than academic users): You qualify for a free license if you're part of a not-for-profit NGO and are going to use Mingle for internal, not-for-profit purposes. In addition, we limit the issuance of free licenses to organizations that we feel, in our sole opinion, are engaged in charitable, socially redeeming work.
For all types of Community Licenses, after you download Mingle, please email us at studios@thoughtworks.com , and we'll start reviewing your request. To help us with our evaluation, you can also send us the following details:
  • Number of required users
  • The name of your organization / open source project
  • A link to your website / open source project
  • A detailed description of your open source project, or academic facility
  • A description of your position in the project
  • A copy of your tax exempt letter, where applicable
  • For Charitable organizations, a short Statement about how you are making the world a better place and serving the needs of those most in need.

Support may be chargeable for Academic, Community and Not-for-Profit Use.

Requests for community licenses may be granted or denied for any reason at ThoughtWorks’ sole discretion.
